I sent my husband this morning to buy some soda that was on sale and town trash bags- when he got home I saw that he was charged full price for the soda so back to Shaws I went. I got it all straightened out and picked up some other things while I was there. I was going to get cheese and salsa with my Peapod order that is getting delivered tomorrow but since I had to run to Shaws I got the items there because they were cheaper.

I usually work on Saturdays but took today off (totally annoying story I won't get into). Due to me being home and not having planned on it we decided to be lazy and get one of those overpriced yet delicious rotisserie chickens. We should now be set for soda and frozen veggies. In fact, after all of the shopping I have done this week we should be set with everything. I at least now know that my family won't starve while I'm in the hospital and hopefully my husband will not resort to getting take-out for him and the kids too much.

I tried out the General Mills deal on shelf prices, though I added some extra things to make sure that I would get the Catalina. For four boxes of Total, two boxes of Cheerios and two GoGurts I spent .40 after my manufacturer coupons and $10 Catalina I earned from my first run. Not too shabby! I would love to go back and get more stuff but we'll see if I'm up to it.

The pork chops were a great deal- after the meat markdown coupons I ended up paying about $1.59 a pound. I will package them up using my Foodsaver and will freeze them  for future meals. Always, always check the meat section for markdowns- it is well worth it!

I forgot to give the cashier a .50 coupon for the Lucky Charms but there was no way I was going back into the store for $1- I'll just use it another time this week. I paid $11.90 after sales and coupons for 11 boxes of cereal; if you take into account the $10 Catalina I earned I paid $1.90 for 11 boxes which is .17 cents a box.

This deal may or may not be working on pre-sale prices but I'm not sure if I want to take the risk so I may just stick to going by the sale prices this week.

- The Classico Sauce ended up being $1 each after my coupons and if you take into account the $1 Catalina I received they were only .75 each.

I also did the gift card deal (when you buy $100 of gift cards you get a coupon for a free $10 Shaws gift card). My brother's birthday is this week so I needed to buy him something anyways so this deal came at the right time! Here is what I bought:

I am going back to the store on Monday because I was overcharged for a few things*. The ground beef was marked on the label as $2.99/lb but rang up as $3.79/lb and the Dole peaches rang up as $3.29 instead of what the shelf tag said which was $2.50. That is a total of $5.11 that Shaws owes me. I should have gone over my receipt when I was at the store but I literally felt like I was going to pass out and wanted to get home as soon as possible. Grrrrrr to me and super Grrrrrrrrrrr to Shaws for their crap not ringing up correctly.

The good news is that I budgeted $125 this week for groceries because of the party and I am $11 under budget (I don't count the books or napkins towards my grocery budget). If I get my $5 back then I'll be $16 under budget. Yeah!!!

* I should say that I may go back- as I sit here and think about driving to the store with my two darling children for $5 I start to think that it may not be worth my gas, time or sanity. We shall see...

Most of this was for my son's party and I was surprised at my low total at the register. I was feeling better from being sick the day day before but was still a bit out of it so they could have told me the total was double that and I wouldn't have cared.

When I was in the baking aisle I was going back and forth about whether or not I should make the cake from scratch but decided to pay $1.79 a box for cake mix. It seemed as if it was worth the extra money for the box stuff to avoid any stress later and boy am I happy I made that decision!

The cashier rang up the apples incorrectly, they should have been .99/lb instead of $1.79/lb but I just noticed now so my bad. The thing is, I don;t even really care because my daughter was good the whole time in the store and going back in for $1.41 after already strapping her in the car was just not worth it to me.

I am going to do another shopping trip this week, most likely on Friday, to pick up what I need for the party on Sunday but at least our food needs will be met until then.
