Okay, so I started a new blog that is geared toward me attempting to be crunchy and while I am enjoying it I really miss posting deals!
I've decided to resurrect Just Call Me Cheap into a deal blog where I will randomly post awesome deals that I come across when I am surfing the Internet.
Onto the savings!

2 Dawn @ .97 each - (2) .20 MC
5 Dawn Hand Renewal @ .97 each - $1.00 MC and (2) $1/2 MC

Toy Story 3 DVD $19.99 - $16.00 saving wyb $25 P&G
Less $11 in ECB
Less $10 in gift cards (earned from taking surveys)
Total: $3.93
Saved 92%
I ended up having to do two transactions on different days because on Sunday I got the wrong batteries. I returned them today and got The money back and then bought the right batteries but for some reason I didn't get the instant discount on the DVD. I told the cashier I would just take the batteries and see what my receipt said on it. It didn't even show that I bought any P&G products whereas the receipt I had from Sunday said I had about $21. The manager thought it was weird too so he manually entered the $16 discount and after all of that I finally got my son Toy Story 3. The manager was very nice- I really like when people at stores are nice because as someone who uses coupons I am all too familiar with rude and incompetent cashiers and managers. This is my favorite CVS to go to.
Also, on Sunday I was charged for seven boxes of Puffs instead of the six that I actually bought. I didn't realize it until after I left the store and we had to go see my parents so they could see the kids in their costumes and then get home to go trick or treating. I didn't feel like running back and setting us behind schedule so I'll just eat the .97 and realize that at that moment my sanity was worth way more than $1.00.
I now have no ECB left. I am very happy about this because going to CVS has turned into such a chore that I don't want to be chained to them anymore with having to roll ECB's. I still have a little money left on a gift card and am expecting a $5 gift card in the mail soon from Lightspeed Panel so that should be good in case CVS decides to have any deals on things I actually want.

Shaws- I Really Didn't Want to Go But I Had To

Less $20 in Catalinas earned last week
Less $3.80 in bottle refund
Total: $36.44
Saved 64%
Thank goodness for those Catalinas I earned last week because otherwise I would have been way over budget. I made a list this week but most of the things I needed were not things that I had no coupons for- produce, eggs, milk and bread.
The Purdue drumsticks were a great deal- I ended up paying about .68 cents a pound after the BOGO sale and the meat markdown coupons. I am going to freeze them tomorrow using my trusty Food Saver and will use them in the future for I don't know what yet.
I made the roast tonight for dinner and will cut up the leftovers into strips so I can make a stir fry for dinner on Sunday night. That means each meal's beef will have cost $2.81. With all other ingredients for the meals each meal will have cost under $5.00- not too bad. One factor that keeps my meal costs down is that I use mostly frozen vegetables. They have about the same nutritional value as fresh vegetables, they don't spoil, they are way cheaper (even free sometimes with coupons) and they are easier for me to prepare (I just steam them in a pan). So say what you want about frozen veggies but I love them and without them my life would be a lot more stressful (and expensive) around dinnertime.
I have been toying with the idea of using powdered milk for my baking. It kind of scares me a bit because powdered milk sounds so weird but maybe I'll try it. It seems like a good way to save money on milk and I would always have milk on hand for when I get the hankering to bake something.

Cold Buster $6.49

Less $4 off $20

Total: $5.81
Saved 71%
Will submit for $20.46 in SCR ($3.99 Simply Saline, $4.99 Chestal, $6.49 Cold Buster and $4.99 Oscill.)
My one year old daughter and I ran to Rite Aid after we dropped my three year old son off at school. I had +Up Rewards that were expiring on Saturday and I felt like getting out of the house for a bit. There was a $2.00 coupon for the Oscill. that I could have used but it was a pdf and I feel weird using pdf's. There was also a $1.00 Simply Saline coupon but I forgot about it until right now.
It is so funny, because the Simply Saline is for kids but there is no way in you know where that my son would ever let me put that stuff up his nose. My husband would have to restrain him with all his might- have you ever had to battle a three year old having a screaming tantrum?- while I sprayed it. Then we would have to listen to him cry for half an hour about how mean we were by spraying stuff up his nose. Then he would ask for a snack and to watch Dino Dan as if he wasn't just screaming bloody murder. I would love to capture one of his "off" moments on video and play it back to him so he could see how he acts (or to embarrass him when he is a teenager) but I somehow think it would traumatize him- sometimes I even feel a bit traumatized!

Total: $11.43
Saved 84%
Received $20.00 in Catalinas for purchasing $50 of General Mills products (Cinn. Toast Crunch, Cheerios, Cascadian Farms, Reeses and Hamburger Helper). After manufacturer coupons I paid $12.50 and after the Catalinas earned from my last trip I paid $2.50. Not too bad- plus I have $20 to spend next time!
After going through my receipt I realized that my two Mom's Best coupons were not scanned, basically scamming me out of $3.00 after doubling. I don't even like the stuff because it has added stuff to it (I like plain oatmeal) so I just got it to donate. Oh well, you win some and you lose some.

Total: $50.87
Received $10 in Catalinas for purchasing $25 of GM products (the cereal and Hamburger Helper) according to the pre sale prices (paid $6.90 out of pocket after coupons)
*The cashier deducted the wrong amount for the free coupon. You would have thought she would have done it right considering she took a long time to figure it out (she has been working at this Shaws forever- she is just really slow at processing coupons).
**Again, the cashier made a mistake. I had a rain check for the ricotta cheese that was buy one get one free. After a few minutes of trying to figure it out she charged me $39.92 for the cheese. I realized this when I checked my receipt outside so I went to the service desk and was given $35 in cash back- I asked the woman if she was sure it was correct and she said yes. I now see, sitting here that she messed up too. Talk about not knowing your you know what from your elbow. I also had two .55 coupons for the cheese and a $1 off two coupon.
I decided to do the GM Catalina deal, and yes I got Hamburger Helper. It is whole grain so I suppose it isn't super bad. We are going to try it this week but I will most likely be donating the other two boxes. The Reeses cereal will be a special treat for my son and he'll only be able to have very infrequently. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch is a snack for my husband.
Oh, and don't mind my son standing to the right with an orange snorkel in his hand- he wanted to be in the picture too.

Rite Aid
Rite Aid Vitamins $13.49
Palmers Lip Butter $1.99
Comtrex $3.99
Kids Eeze Allergy $4.99
Less $5 off $25
Less $18.76 +Up Rewards
Total: .70 on gift card recieved from Oral Care rebate (spent nothing out of pocket to earn it)
Will submit for $10.97 in SCR ($1.99 Palmers, $4.99 Kids Eeze and $3.99 Comtrex)
I obviously would have gotten a better deal if I just got all free stuff but I needed vitamins.
The vitamins were on sale but weren't marked so my total before +Up Rewards was a little below $25- the cashier didn't say anything and put it through (I just relized it right now). I was wondering why my total was lower than what I calculated in my head but I had my daughter with me so I didn't have time to go through my receipt.

Toddler Boy Button Up Shirt $24.50
Less 45% discount (Columbus Day Sale)
Total: $59.03
Saved 74% off retail (but who would ever pay retail at the Gap?)
I went to get my son a shirt for his school pictures and ended up with all of that other stuff. I bought him a sweater and shirt at the Children's Place for about $23 but am going to return them (they were bought out of last minute desperation) because they look cheap, they were way more than I like to pay for things from the Children's Place and because I found a super cute button up at the Gap for way cheaper. I used to really like the Children's Place but they have really been stinking lately and the clothes are just not great of quality (and dare I say it- their clothes look kind of babyish). Yes I know my kids are little but ever since they were babies I have dressed them stylishly. My son looks like a mini-daddy and my daughter is always dressed just too cute for words (I wish they had the sweater I bought her in my size!). But I digress...
I think I got an awesome deal though I know others may think I didn't. I really love Gap clothes and when my kids grow out of them I will be able to sell them for almost what I paid for them because they hold up so well. If I didn't have both kids with me I would have probably spent way more (could have been a good thing or a bad thing...).
Oh yeah, everything that I bought for my daughter is the next size up and higher from what size she is now. I love buying ahead because It saves me tons of money while still allowing me to dress my kids very nicely.
