Yeah, I'm a Trash Picker...

Bulb of Garlic
Last night I made a delicious homemade tomato sauce for dinner. My lazy butt even used real, live garlic in it.

When the sauce was simmering on the stove I was putting away the mess of ingredients I used and could not for the life of me find the rest of the head of garlic. I looked all over the counter, on the floor, in the fridge (am I the only one who puts things in weird places by accident?) and found nothing.

Then I had that oh crap moment and realized I may have thrown it in the trash. Guess what? I did throw it in the trash. It was sitting in plain view right on top, resting on the onion peels that were leftover from dinner prep.

I thought about what I should do and after much consideration took the garlic out of the trash. I came to this decision due to many factors as follows:

-it was sitting on top of the onion peels and in no way was touching any yucky garbage
-it is covered in papery garlic peel that I will take off when I need to use it
-the thought of going to the store with my kids to get more garlic made me want to cry

So in the end my hatred of going to the store with my kids turned me into a trash picker. Oh well, losing a bit of my dignity will be worth it when I make some kick-butt chilli this week.

Buying Clothing Ahead

My daughter will be 18 months old in a couple of weeks so I decided it was high time to pull out her 18-24 months clothing from my stash. Throughout the year I buy my kids clothes when I can get them for really cheap and then I store them in plastic bins in their closets.

My son doesn't have a ton of stuff because he is a boy (boy clothes are not very exciting to buy) and his growth has really slowed down so he stays in one size a lot longer. My daughter on the other hand has tons of stuff. I love buying her clothes- I dress rather boring so I am living out my inner fashionista through her. I know that one day she will hate everything I pick out for her so I am taking full advantage of her inability to disagree.

So, here is what I found:

Gap
3 dresses
1 tank
3 long sleeve shirts
2 short sleeve shirts
2 sweaters
3 pants

Old Navy
2 long sleeve shirts
1 shot sleeve shirt
1 hat

Children's Place
1 long sleeve shirt (hand me down)

Gap Outlet
1 pair of pants (hand me down from son)

Target
1 long sleeve shirt

Anything short sleeved will be layered with a long sleeve shirt or a sweater (which is how I get more mileage out of clothing).

My daughter is pretty much set for the winter but if I find more cheap deals then I will get her more stuff. My son is also set for the winter. Yeah for me! Now where is my completely new wardrobe?

Yes, I Am That Cheap

I got paid to buy two packages of these face wipes at Rite Aid last week but just because I got paid to buy them doesn't mean that I'm not going to try and stretch them as far as I can.

I don't have a very big face and I'm not a coal miner so my face doesn't get that dirty, so I cut each wipe into four pieces (with scissors that I got free from CVS last year).

Here is what I have now. One hundred face wipes in a Ziploc container. These should last me for at least three months and then I have another package that I will cut up to last me another three months (I just use them at night because I use regular face wash in the morning).

I did this while my husband was at work because he would have made fun of me. I would have made fun of me too. I am turning into my mother.
