I could not believe the awesome deal on meat that I got today! The chicken breast was originally $1.99 a pound and all of the packages I bought had $1 meat markdown peelies on them. I ended up paying about $1.22 a pound which is amazing in these parts. The pork chops were great too- they were on sale for $2.50 a package so after the $1 meat markdown peelies I paid about $1.50 a pound. The deal would have been better if the cashier didn't miss two of the $1 peelies but I noticed when I got home and am not going back for $2. I have to chose my battles and right now $2 isn't worth me dragging my tired butt and the two kids back to the store. Plus, I feel sketchy going back way after the fact- if I don't catch it before I leave the store than I usually won't go back and get it corrected, at least when it comes to missed coupons.

The Goldfish Graham Crackers would have been an even better deal if I had the .35 coupons from Coupons.com to stack with the Target peelie but oh well- they were a treat for the kids and I am not going to beat myself up over .70 cents.

  1. Erica,

Part of my 60 years of teaching coupons and frugal living to younger folks includes the take backs!
Here is the trick. Pick a bag (I use a cloth bag)
put your receipt and the two peelie coupons back in the bag with the receipt the next time you go to the store you just go to customer service and get the money back (You will be at the store next week for your groceries anyway why not just mention it!) Any item bought wrong do the same this way no extra trips, no wasted $2.00 and no feeling like it is not worth the battle. You will be shocked at how often it works out if you simply have a return bag.
