The sour cream, lettuce and tomato were for the Taco Salad that we had for dinner tonight. The sage, bacon, Parmesan cheese and potatoes are for dinner tomorrow night.

The $3 lunchable was a total bribe for my 3 1/5 year old son. He and his little sister were both sitting in car attached to the front of the shopping carriage. He got out and then wanted to get back in but my daughter didn't want him to and started to freak out. I told him he could pick out any lunchable he wanted if he did not get back into the car. I know that a better mom would have not gone down the bribery route but I am a realistic mom. I wanted to get my shopping done without a meltdown and paying $3 for a lunchable seemed fair to me. My son did want a lunchable knock off that was $1 cheaper but it had a weird blue drink that came with it and didn't have wheat crackers so I encouraged him to get the more expensive one so at least I knew he wasn't eating total crap, just somewhat crap. I swore to myself as a child that I would never feed my kids bologna- I have always hated bologna and thought it was awful that my mom would try to serve it to me (don't even get me started on how mad I would get about Manwich sloppy joes) but my son picked a bologna lunchable. He loved the bologna. But guess what, I am the mom and I think bologna is just plain gross so he can buy it himself someday when he gets his license and has a job to pay for it.

  1. Oh the joys of shopping with kids:) I had my eight year old and my 18 month old in the car cart, and amazingly they could not get along....they are usually best pals...

When I have all three kids with me, it is tough. I usually bribe them with the Publix cookie. If they behave throughout the trip, they get a cookie, if not...no cookie! We have left the store several times without a free cookie, and that helps. If they do very well, we get free balloons, and I will stand there and wait, and even ask for someone to come help, if they do not have any at the ballon place.

    Sometimes bribery makes sense:)
