What Happened to Being Cool...

I remember being a teenager and thinking that everything my mom did was so uncool. I would never be that uncool- I would be a cool mom when I had kids someday. I would go to the mall with my baby carriage and shop away, buying cute outfits for myself while sipping on a latte (I hate coffee but people drinking it seemed so cool to me when I was younger).

I have just come to the realization that I am not a cool mom. I am a minivan van driving soccer mom (my three year old son started soccer yesterday) and to put icing on the cake I shop the clearance racks at stores and use mass amounts of coupons- even going so far as to buy laxative products if I can make some money buying them (yes, teenage boy cashier, I am buying tampons and products that make people poop- oh and here is my massive stack of tampon and poop product coupons).

What happened to me? I used to dress in stylish clothing and had underwear that matched my bras. I used to buy CD's (how old fashioned) and read grown up books. I used to use a blow dryer, do my nails and shave my legs every day.

Now I am a mom. I wears jeans and t-shirts, have my hair up in a ponytail 24/7 and feel lucky when I can stretch my morning shower to ten minutes.

I'm not cool anymore but my husband thinks I'm perfect the way I am and my kids love me unconditionally so I would give up being cool any day to have that. Now, what to do with all of my free laxatives....

  2. I'm with you, I'm not cool either....but but but! I'm a product testing frugal mommy, and my boys sure thinks it is great to have a mom who tests toys.

I might be wearing a hat, pushing a stroller everywhere and wear very casual clothing, but whenever school is out, I feel like a magnet, as my son's friends gather around me, even if he is not out yet....maybe we're just a bit cool after all...

You better get on the toy testing boat:)

Thank you for participating in last week’s The Wednesday Window. This week there is an extra bonus to the featured blog, and there are new entry options into the free ad giveaway as well.
