This week the only thing that I spent money on was groceries and a bottle of laundry detergent. We did get take out a couple of times- once on my birthday and the other yesterday when my parents came over to celebrate my birthday (they brought the cake).
So far I haven't even had the urge to buy anything "extra". I have avoided going to stores to score on all of the after Christmas clearance deals and have not been paying too close of attention to Slickdeals, which is my shopping Achilles heal.
As I said in my post where where I announced this challenge- we have everything we need right now. The kids all have enough clothing and shoes to get them to the spring (and even beyond because I bought a lot of stuff last year on clearance), my husband and I are fine on shoes and clothing, I have enough painting supplies to last me the rest of the month (which is how long it is going to take my to paint all of our knew doors- yuck) and there is really nothing else I can think of that we would need.
The only issue I am having is that I have a bunch of Gym Bucks from Gymboree that need to be used the last week of January- granted I don't *need* to use them but they are a great way to stock on some clothing for the kids in the next size up. I may just have to break my no spend rule that one time.
As you can see, so far so good but who knows how I'll feel in a couple of weeks. By that time I may be going through online shopping withdrawals.
