Grocery Shopping- 3 Stores in One Day

Today I went to three grocery stores. So crazy because I had Jilly (my two year old) with me. Usually she freaks out if we even go to just two stores but today she was being pretty cool so I decided to just go for it.

Whole Foods

365 Organic Peanut Butter Cereal $3.99 - .50 rebate from Ibotta
365 Organic Morning O's Cereal $3.99
Nature's Path Organic Puffed Corn $2.19
365 Organic Butter $4.79
365 Cumin $2.49
365 Frozen Corn $2.49 (verified gmo free)
365 Organic Tortillas $2.19
365 Cage Free Eggs $2.99 (antibiotic free) - .50 rebate from Checkout 51
365 Whole Milk $3.69 (antibiotic free) - .50 rebate from Ibotta
5.40 lbs Boneless Chicken Breast $21.55 ($3.99/lb- antibiotic free)

Total: $48.86 after rebates from Ibotta and Checkout 51

I was so tempted to buy chicken at another store that was on sale for $1.99 a pound but I had to remind myself about all of the yucky stuff that is in that chicken. Whole Foods has pretty high standards for the meat they sell which I feel makes it a better option for my family. It still stinks to pay double though.

Dave's Marketplace (a local grocery store chain here in Rhode Island)

Oranges $4.99
5.44 lb Bartlett Pears $8.11 ($1.49/lb)
.44 lb Vine Tomato $1.76 (I was not going to buy this but Jilly stuck her finger in it)
Head of Lettuce $1.49

Less $10 Gift Certificate (got in a welcome to the neighborhood mailer)

Total: $6.35

Shaw's

(2) 3 lb Bags Apples @ $2 each (only .67 a pound- awesome!)
Blueberries $1.88
Cantaloupe $2.00
6 Cherry Coke @ .88 each (for my soda loving husband)
4 Starbucks Ice Cream @ $5.49 BOGO (for my Starbucks and ice cream loving husband)
Little Debbie Honey Buns $1.79 (for my husband- see a pattern here?)
2 Sour Patch Kids @ $1.99 each (I promised my older kids I would get them a very special treat)

Total: $30.56

What can I say? My husband loves junk food. If I don't buy it, then he will and will end up paying full price.

Total spent today: $85.77

I am hoping that we have enough food to last us the week but if I have to run out for more I will still be happy if I can keep the week under $100. Now to come up with a menu plan for the week- fun, fun, fun (I am rolling my eyes right now).
