Doesn't seem like too great of a deal until you add up the rewards I am going to receive.

I recycled ten empty ink cartridges and because I bought over $50 in ink I will get $4 in rewards back for each cartridge which equals $40.

I will also get 20% of my purchase back in Staples Rewards (normally it is 10% but because I bought over $50 in ink it doubles) which equals $12.

All in all I will be receiving $52 in Staples Rewards for buying something we actually needed which means I can use the rewards on more stuff we need.
