Grocery Shopping Day!

Today was my grocery shopping day. My husband worked from home due to the snowstorm we got and the kids were off from school so it was the perfect opportunity for me to go to the store ALONE!

I was only planning on going to Stop and Shop and Whole Foods but Stop and Shop had no Cherry Coke to be found (my husband will die without his Cherry Coke) so I had to stop at Shaws, which is right across the street from Whole Foods. Going to three stores in the freezing cold is not fun, not fun at all.

Whole Foods

365 Whole Milk $3.69 (will receive .50 back from Ibotta)
365 Shredded Cheese (16 oz.) $3.99
(2) 365 Organic Tortillas @ $2.19 each
365 Organic Mustard $2.69
365 Organic Salsa $2.99
365 Organic Quinoa (16 oz.) $4.49
365 Cage Free Eggs $2.99 (will receive .50 back from Ibotta)
.60 lb Organic Kale $1.19
5.75 lb Bone In Pork Picnic Shoulder Roast $8.57

Total: $33.98 (after receiving $1 from Ibotta)

Stop and Shop

1 lb Strawberries $2.99
3 lb Bag Halos $4.99 - .50 MC (doubled) = $3.99
5 lb Bag Gala Apples $4.99
6.64 lb Bartlett Pears $9.90 ($1.69/lb)
4 Kiwi $2.00
Lemon .66
Cantaloupe $2.50 - $1.01 in ad coupon = $1.49
Iceberg Lettuce $1.99 (I know romaine is healthier but I am loving how iceberg tastes right now)
5 lb Bag Red Potatoes $3.49
Cucumber .99
.93 lb Vine Tomatoes $2.79 ($2.99/lb)
Applegate Antibiotic Free Deli Turkey $2.78 (reduced meat- reg. $5.99)
Applegate Nitrate/Antibiotic Free Pepperoni $3.69
McCain Baby Cakes $3.29 (for my husband- it was a special request)
All Detergent $2.99 - $2 in ad coupon and $1 MC = .99

Total: $45.77; I found some random cash in my purse that I have no idea where it came from so after that my new total was $41.35

I normally use eco-friendly and all natural detergents but my daughters cloth diapers have been toxic lately. 2 year old toddler diapers are definitely not fun to get clean which is why I am going to see if using a regular detergent will make it easier to them. For .99 cents it is worth a try. If it doesn't work I can give the detergent to my mom and just use more of our normal detergent.

Shaws

3 Cherry Coke 12 Packs @ $3.29 each (for my husband)
2 Cascadian Farms Organic Corn @ $2.99 each - 20% discontinued discount - (2) .75 MC (doubled) = .89 each
Wild Harvest Organic Frozen Peaches $3.29 (for a recipe I'm making next week)
Wild Harvest Organic Chicken Soup $2.00 (for my husband)
(3) Starbucks Ice Cream @ $2.99 each (again, for my husband- this is his favorite ice cream)

Total: $26.61

I haven't been to Shaws in almost two years due to it being so far easy from us but today realized I really need to start shopping there more! It is right across from Whole Foods and they have a really great selection of organics and seem to often discount items. I will definitely keep them on my radar from now on- every little bit I can save helps!

My grand total for the week is $101.94. Definitely more than I wanted to spend but still pretty darn good for a week's worth of groceries. I am thinking setting a $100 a week budget but that somehow scares me. We shall see.
